In 1994, after the closure of the Goldstone Commission, the Institute was re-constituted and became the independent non-governmental Human Rights Institute of South Africa (HURISA). | | | | Following its appointment by President FW de Klerk on the 24 October 1991, the Goldstone Commission investigated incidents of public violence and intimidation in South Africa prior to the 1994 general election.
