	INTRODUCTION

	The Institute for the Study of Public Violence, also known as the Goldstone Institute, was established in 1993 with the aim to document and research the work of the Goldstone Commission of Inquiry Regarding the Prevention of Public Violence and Intimidation, under the chairmanship of Justice Richard Goldstone. In 1994, after the closure of the Goldstone Commission, the Institute was re-constituted and became the independent non-governmental Human Rights Institute of South Africa (HURISA).

	Following its appointment by President FW de Klerk on the 24 October 1991, the Goldstone Commission investigated incidents of public violence and intimidation in South Africa prior to the 1994 general election. Between 1991 and 1994 the Goldstone Commission presented reports and recommendations relating to the nature, causes and persons involved in the numerous incidents of public violence and intimidation during that period.

A	GOLDSTONE REPORT BOOKLET, 107 pages

	The Goldstone Report booklet provides an introduction to the Goldstone Commission and its Investigation Units, as well as an outline of its mandate and objectives, and a listing of its members, observers and other related staff. It then lists the reports of the Goldstone Commission, followed by summaries and abstracts of reports released by the Goldstone Commission from the 24 January 1992 to the 27 October 1994.
