 Records of the trial State vs Nelson Mandela, which was held in the Pretoria Regional Court from 15 October - 7 November 1962. 
 Nelson Mandela was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment for inciting workers to strike and for leaving South Africa without a valid travel document. 
  
 Reference is made to collections A2519 'Nelson Mandela Papers' and AD1844 'Rivonia Trial'. 
  
 All items in this collection are copies and transcriptions, some of which are of poor quality.

 The Exhibits mainly relate to the call to strike on the 29, 30, 31 May 1961 and other activities by the All-in African National Action Council.

CORRESPONDENCE        
  
 Most of the correspondence is addressed to Canon Collins at 'Christian Action' in London, which was written on behalf of Nelson Mandela by his legal team Kantor, Zwarenstein & Partners. It also includes news releases by Canon Collins, informing the press about Nelson Mandela's arrest, as well as his initiatives for fundraising for the trial. 
 Also included a leaflet with Nelson Mandela's biographical sketch and photograph, as well as the content of a letter he wrote to Canon Collins on the 5 November 1962.
